This page is a bit of an ego trip, but here are some recent articles by me, about me, about school meals, about my novels, etc.

And I’ve included a few articles or talks on subjects that I care a lot about: hobby horses I tend to beat to death. Two are inaugural lectures I gave as Chair of the RSA, one about what makes a young business tick, and one about the modern obsession with germs and hygiene. This last looks a bit unwise now, in the light of the MRSA in hospitals, but I still think soap and water will do very nicely for most things and flooding the place with killer chemicals can’t be right.

And there is the Great British Menu of course. I have avoided telly over the years – hanging around waiting for the cameraman, the lighting guy, the sound guy and the director to be happy before you do a two minute slot, can be really tedious. And I don’t like my voice, I don’t like the way I look and I’m not brilliant at it anyway. But I was persuaded to do this series because it is genuinely about good British produce and showcases our best produces as well as our best chefs.

And I’ve enjoyed it so much, mainly because I really like my fellow judges Oliver Peyton and Matthew Fort. It’s good fun and I don’t mind that I am cast in my normal bossy role, trying to control their excesses. We are now filming series three (four if you count The Great British Christmas Menu, which was just a week long – the full series last for weeks.)

The new series will start on BBC2 at 6.30pm from end March 08
